Hi friends!
Now that littleFedi has been released and new instances are starting to appear, we can focus again on development and testing.
From now on, the littleFedi accounts on this instance will work like this:
The announcement - @littlefedi_official - account will be used for announcements: new releases and important communications. It will be a very low-traffic account, so I suggest following it with some attention. A new build, by the way, is not far away... 😉
There will also be an account dedicated to hints, where we will publish, notice the plural 😏, tips, tricks and useful little things about littleFedi. It does not exist yet, but I will create and announce it as soon as possible.
This account will remain more general, as it is now, although of course it will mainly talk about littleFedi.
This instance will remain our test instance. New builds and new features will be tested here before their public release.
For now, the littleFedi development model will also remain the same: the developers develop, fix, experiment and, when something is ready, a new version is released.
Open Source is freedom, not conformity.
littleFedi has its own history, its own way of growing and its own direction. We will keep following them, without trying to imitate a model just because it is the most common one in the Open Source world.
Open Source was born to let people do things differently.

Now that #littleFedi has been released, and I can already see several instances run by different people federating with each other, this little instance feels like it's in good company.
For some (many?) years, I’ve embraced a philosophy: defuse.
When a situation is going nowhere and the tone starts heating up, the best thing to do is to defuse. Going on would only make things worse, with the risk of saying something I might regret later.
Is it right? Not always. Is it wise? Most of the time, yes.
Will I regret it? No, I don’t think so.
Sometimes it’s better to stop arguing, take note, and act accordingly.

Yes, the BSD Cafe has been upgraded. But this is a test, as Mastodon changed some of the quote post behaviour in 4.7.x and I'm trying to see if littleFedi is still able to manage it 😉

The Electric Oven
A question about ovens, a husband in a hospital bed, and a phone call years later. Some words can't be taken back.
There is a cricket, a single cricket that chirps every evening outside the bathroom window. So loud that it can be heard even with the windows closed, and it's a curious phenomenon because I had never heard one this loud before.
These are the sounds I will miss, with the cold.

When using littleFedi on mobile, I’m usually going with the PWA. I find it even better than MastoBlaster. And that means a lot!
Today was a good day. A full one, yes, but a good one.
I had the chance to witness a few things, and they made me realise, even more clearly, that yes, this crazy world is still full of wonderful people.
Some of those things will probably end up in blog posts on my-notes. Others in random posts. But they all have something in common: thankfully, not everyone measures their own success by taking something away from others.
