Now on a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W - powered by NetBSD (armv7) - with an USB ethernet card, as the internal wifi seems to lock when the traffic goes up.

It's blazing fast

@stefano Yes, the performance here is on a totally different league. No difference from the #littleOne instance on the VPS.

So I can say that armv7 is giving an optimal experience.

@stefano I mean it is faster than a Sun Ultra Enterprise 450 server on which we served quite a lot of services and customers.

I think we stopped doing sensible things with software and Wirths Law (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wirth%27) really bites us hard...

@armando@rollenspiel.social this is absolutely true. To be fair, the encryption we use today is much more complex (even if often hardware assisted) than the one we used 20 years ago. Still, software is generally bloated.

Was just to give some perspektive. I think a RP PI Zero 2 W is a wonderfull machine and I would have given a lot for that machine in the nineties. I think you would have been god with a servercluster with these little things :-) (Give me 100 of these with modern networking and you could have outperformed big corps by far).

nevertheless I can't wait to get my hands on #littlefedi.

I really want to try it in a jail on my freebsd :-) Seems to be fun software.

@stefano I'm trying to remember if the wifi chip in that doubles as the BT chip... I've had issues with double-duty wireless cards/chips before
