Pixelated screenshot from the 16-color EGA version of the classic point-and-click adventure game "The Secret of Monkey Island". The protagonist, Guybrush Threepwood, stands on a wooden dock overlooking an ocean horizon where a vibrant orange sunset meets a dark blue, starry night sky. To the left is a small wooden structure with a crane and a poster reading "Gov. MARLEY". The bottom third of the screen features the black SCUMM interface with bright green text commands such as "Walk to", "Open", "Pick up", and "Talk to."

The EGA version of "The Secret of Monkey Island" showed this sunset in the first part, which then turned into night.
This was not replicated in later versions with higher resolution.

Sometimes it's true: fewer graphics meant more effort and imagination in communication and emotional impact.
