The oldest known man-made structures on Earth are located in a river in a small town in northern New South Wales, Australia. They consist of a series of rings made of rocks designed to trap fish swimming downstream.

And they have been there for over 20,000 years.

The fish traps at Brewarrina may not seem very exciting at first glance, but when you stop and think about them, they are amazing. People who lived here 20,000 years ago placed them in the river and used them to catch fish.

This was 8,000 years before the construction of Stonehenge.

9,000 years before the first human settlement at Jericho.

14,000 years before the construction of the pyramids.

They are older than any other man-made structures on Earth.
